The Solar Eclipse Experience

Join Markus Rathey, author and professor of music history at Yale University as he dicusses Johann Sebastian Bach’s music and his world. Many of us encounter Bach’s music through his magnificent oratorios, passions, and complex keyboard works. There is another side of Bach: the father of many children, the skillful teacher, the composer of a small musical scene celebrating the benefits of coffee. When we look closer, we see that these two sides of his personality are intimately connected. This talk will introduce the listeners to these fascinating facets of Bach’s world and to some particular gems of Bach’s music.
