Gentle Yoga

Next meeting: Friday May 2nd at 7:00pm at the Sherman Library

Join certified yoga instructor, Paul Jaehnig for a session of gentle yoga at the Library.

The practice of yoga provides an opportunity for all to improve their physical and mental well-being. This yoga session will begin with a warm-up followed by a series of yoga postures or asanas, yoga breathing or pranayama and concluded with relaxation and meditation. The yoga session will be followed by refreshments and conversation.

This program, held in-person monthly at the Sherman Library, is a wonderful way to relax and unwind.

Classes are free and are open to all adults and no experience is required.


Writers' Group

Looking for feedback? Need help curing your writer's block or tapping into your creativity? Want to sharpen your skills and test your ideas through peer review and constructive critique? 

Join this small group of creative writers and share your works in progress, resources, issues, ideas, and expertise. Experiment with writing new works, exploring different genres, and discussing literature while using literary devices, writing prompts, and other exercises to stimulate your muse.

Olive Kitteridge is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel told through a series of interconnected short stories, focusing on the life of Olive Kitteridge, a retired middle school math teacher living in the small Maine town of Crosby; the narrative explores the complexities of her relationships with the people around her, particularly her husband Henry, while offering a nuanced look at the lives and struggles of the community through Olive's often blunt and sometimes harsh perspective.

Death in Venice by Thomas Mann

Led By Diana Bristol

Set in Venice during a cholera epidemic, this classic is a haunting and poignant novella which explores the themes of beauty, desire, and mortality. The protagonist, who becomes obsessed with a young boy, explores the internal struggle between the desire for youth and the fear of death.

Mahjong Club

Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Library

Every week, the Sherman Library hosts a Mahjong Club on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome, from beginners to experts. Socialize with other players as you increase your mahjong skills. Equipment is provided. These meetings are in person.
